Successful US Junior Squash Tournaments at Nobles

Congratulations were in order for all the students who participated in the US Squash Bronze tournament in November at Nobles & Greenough in Dedham, MA as well as for those who participated in the US Squash Silver Tournament at Nobles.

Cross Courts Bronze participants had some tremendous results, notably Jason Stein who lost in the finals of the u13 boys to number two seeded Fotis Zafiriou from Somerville, MA, Katie Schuster put in a competitive effort for 3rd place in the U15’s, as did Noah Goel who made it to the quarters in the u11 boys. Kelsey Abbrecht, Jack Stein and Anika Banerjee all had good results. Justin Zhu, Chris Athanasia, Sam Millay, Koller Phillips and Max Guo won some tough matches.

In the Silver event, meanwhile, Sydney Soloway won the Nobles silver girls U17, Ellie Ackerman beat Chelsea Cho in the final of U15, Abbas Saeed came runner up in Boys U19, Andrew Lee won the boys U17, Andrew Lazor won the boys U15, Ben Glicklich won the boys U13, and Max Guo won the boys U11.

Coach Gary Gargan heard good reports about the way Cross Courts athletes conducted themselves on court and were able to fulfill their scoring and reffing duties afterwards. “I really believe Matchplay sessions are preparing our juniors to be competitive well-rounded sportsmen,” commented Coach Gary Gargan.
